Heather McCann

MYP – Category 2 – Individuals and Society

For the past 16 years, Heather has taught history in both the MYP and the DP programs at Branksome Hall. Through her teaching practice in the MYP program of Individuals and Societies and DP History of Europe she has developed inquiry based teaching strategies and curriculum design framed by the key concepts of inquiry. Heather has had the opportunity to lead a number of MYP Humanities (Individuals and Societies) workshops for Canadian and international teachers of the MYP program. She is also qualified as an MYP consultant, evaluator, curriculum designer and Inquiry Workshop leader through her work with IBEN. With this background, she has a keen interest in developing inquiry focused history curriculum and assessment tasks while scaffolding key academic skills and approaches to learning between the MYP, DP and Extended Essay years to create a continuum of success for students.
